On 1st April, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe announced that it, along with the other festivals due to take place in August, would not be happening.
We’re saddened that this year’s EdFringe will not be taking place, but we’re equally grateful to all the festivals, venues, productions and others involved in making the festival happen for recognising the risks and taking the appropriate steps to ensure the safety of everyone involved in the process of the world’s most exciting Fringe Festival. We send love and solidarity to the artists who cannot bring their shows to the city this year, but we’ll be back in 2021 to continue promoting feminist works at the festival. Our inbox will be open for those who need to talk this through.
This will undoubtedly be a devastating announcement for many. The city will certainly be less colourful, and certainly not as busy. We worry for all businesses impacted and will share any and all useful resources as we come across them to ensure folks in our community get support.
These really are unprecedented times. Community and compassion will see us through. Take the time you need to process, keep creating, and we’ll see you in 2021 if not before.
